Reminder: Soviet tank Q&A

Some of you may have notice that there hasn't been a Q&A from me in a while. That's because the questions have dried up, and I have nothing to go on. If you have any questions on Soviet tanks, or even Lend-Lease tanks, and Soviet impressions of captured German and French tanks, send them to tankarchives@gmail.com.

We had three rounds of pretty good questions so far, I'm sure you have more!

  1. Do you know what will happen to T-50-2?

    1. IIRC the T-50-2 will get rebalanced as a tier 5 on par with the VK 16.02 and the ELC. The MT-25 will be a tier 6 after the T-50-2.

    2. I thought they were getting rid of the T-50-2 (from the tech tree, the tank would still exist in some form)

    1. Once my post-war heavy tanks materials come in, absolutely.

  3. Would it be worth it to give the M3 Lee a 105mm short gun. Log gun. To improve its chances of survival?

How well was the M3 Lee received used in Russia. I have seen a lot about the M4 Sherman being used in Russia but less on the M3 Lee.

    1. Yeah, as the person below said, it ended up with the nickname "БМ-6 — братская могила на шестерых", which very roughly translates as "collective grave for six people".

  4. It was nicknamed "mass grave". Guess, that sums it up. :)

  5. I would love to hear about the early prototypes of the T-34 such as the A-20 and A-32 we have ingame. Also the 3 tanks following it on the alternate tree on this tech tree.
    The A-43, A-44 and Object 416.

They look kinda interesting and if they make it into the game it may be a way for me to finally get above tier 6 on the russian mediums.

  7. Captured Sturmtiger would be nice. I do know that at least one was captured by Americans and used until the ammo ran out.

    1. The t44a(premium) potentially is going to be either too weak(with the kv 1 85mm gun ) or too powerfull with the t 43 85 mm gun . Can you shed light on what could be appropriate armament at tier 7.

    2. Devs want each tank to use the historical modules at some point, and premium tanks only have one setup. Thus, they come with the historical configration ( the gun is the D-5T in this case, I think- or the ZiS S-53... both have 120 pene and 160 damage).

    3. 120 pen .. sounds painfull . Kinda why i asked .It is coupled with the stock engine . In that confing it would be the worst prem tank ever

  9. What do the Soviet gun desginations (transliterated as) A, B, D, F, S, BL stand for?

    1. I would suspect, following tank designations, that they stand, in most cases, for the designers or manufactures names.

    2. Ah yes, there's also ZiS, which I think is a manufacturer. But I am guessing the guns are mostly classified by type/purpose.

    3. No, each factory had it's own code, either 1 (A-, D-, S- etc) or 2 (LB-, BL-, PS- etc) or 3 letter (ZiS, ZiF etc) letter code. Nothing to do with gun design or purpose.

  10. Do you know if there is any chance for a third Russian heavy tank line? I would love to have another huge Tier X Russian steel beast in my garage.
